On June 13 and 14th, 2024, the course "Osteoporosis Essentials: Densitometry, Diagnosis and Management" was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The course was coordinated locally by Dr. Claudia Firpo and Dr. Felipe Geraci, who lead the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) at Sanatorio Las Lomas. This centre has achieved the distinction of being the first FLS in Argentina to receive the Gold standard designation of the IOF Capture The Fracture® programme, standing out for its excellence in fracture prevention and management.
The main objective of the IOF-ISCD "Osteoporosis Essentials: Densitometry, Diagnosis and Management" Course is to provide a set of standard practices and essential information to increase awareness and education in bone densitometry and osteoporosis. Course participants receive comprehensive training that provides them with up-to-date and valuable knowledge on the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis, ideal for clinicians and healthcare professionals interested in this area. Upon successful completion of the course and exam, participants receive a certificate of achievement.
Dr. Claudia Firpo expressed her gratitude with these words: "Thank you very much to everyone for participating so enthusiastically. We trained, updated, and exchanged knowledge and experiences among colleagues and friends from Argentina and Uruguay. We are very satisfied with the result."
